Hi-Tide, Porthcawl, South Wales
Hi Tide approached OutHounds to design and build a new outdoor/indoor hybrid space at their seafront entertainment venue in Porthcawl, South Wales. The key challenge to overcome was the extremely exposed seafront location, and create a flexible space for Hi-Tides holiday makers.
It was decided to use a Glulam Siberian Larch for the main frame, as this would provide a strong structure able to withstand the effects of the extreme saline coastal environment.
Working in conjunction with a local building contractor, who managed the groundworks and assisted in the installation, the solution contains four retractable roofs and eight Ashelta guillotine windows.
The end result is a unique showcase alfresco dining and entertaining space unlike anything else on the South Wales coast.
