Peppermint is located in the heart of a very competitive district rich in restaurants, bars and clubs. Moreover, when the Welsh national team plays at home at the nearby Principality Stadium, the city is full of tourists looking for a fun experience. The main challenge in designing the outdoor space of Peppermint in Cardiff was to meet the strict guidelines stipulated by the Cardiff City Planning and Conservation teams. In particular that new structures can be no taller than 250 cm and not be fixed to the existing building.
In an area with a high density of visitors, the client wanted an outdoor / indoor hybrid space to provide a “wow” factor to attract customers and stand out from competitors.
The installation of the pergola had a great impact on Peppermint’s business; the outdoor area is now completely integrated into the cocktail bar and has expended its capacity by about 70%, so that tables can be booked all year round.
