Client Requirements
The client was looking to create an outdoor lounge for relaxing with friends and family. An escape from the sun and rain. Positioned at the back of the garden away from the main house they were not planning to use in extreme weather conditions.

Product selection
With no requirement for sides, a relatively small size of 4m x 4m, sheltered city location and a preference for a more solid aluminium rotating louvre roof, the logical choice of product was the Gibus Med Joy. A relatively new addition to the Gibus bioclimatic pergola range, it is the entry level product with a slimline design. By choosing the Med Joy, rather than its heavier and more expensive siblings the Med Twist or Varia, the client could splash out on top of the range electric platinum heaters from Bromic. In addition remote control operated RGB dimmable LEDs were factory fitted into the perimeter of the frame.
Project Cost & Timelines
Victoria Wade prepared the site including installation of suitable concrete pads for the 2 posts. OutHounds managed the supply and fit of the product.
As of Q1 2022 Gibus Med Joy’s of this size cost around £950 / m2. The factory fitted integrated RGD LEDs add around £2,000. The 2.4kw Bromic heaters are around £950 each. Installation takes a two man certified engineering team one day.
So in summary a project like above requires a total budget between £16k to £20k inc VAT with a project turnaround time of between 6 - 12 weeks
